A brush from the Collonil Classic core range. Light wooden handle, soft white bristles and an elongated shape that sits comfortably in your hand even when you're cleaning the whole family's shoes, one pair after another.
Handles both dry and wet cleaning. It really comes into its own on textured surfaces—patterned soles, stitching and coarse textiles. A cloth just glides over these surfaces and leaves dirt sitting in the grooves.
Dry brushing is only done on completely dried shoes. Brushing damp fibres just pushes the dirt in and you'll end up with a worse result than if you'd done nothing. Leave your shoes to dry overnight away from direct heat, otherwise the leather will harden.
Brush suede and nubuck in one direction so the nap doesn't get brushed both ways. For wet cleaning, dampen the brush, apply cleaning foam or solution and work in short strokes, then wipe away the residue with a damp cloth.
Alongside this one, we also stock a cleaning brush from the Carbon Lab range at the same price—you'll recognise it by its black handle. The difference lies in what each is designed for. The Classic can also handle fur, whilst the Carbon Lab works on delicate and sensitive leather, artificial and eco leather, and can also be used to apply foam. If you're mainly cleaning winter boots with fur, go for this one.
