TESTED BY TRAVELLERS"I had the chance to take the LEGUANO BEAT into some fairly extreme conditions. They served me brilliantly on a full-day trek through the tropical jungle. It started innocently, but over time the terrain turned into a muddy path full of slippery roots, with plenty of climbs and descents too. Luckily, the Leguanos didn't let me down. In such extremes every shoe will slip, but thanks to the thin sole I knew exactly what terrain was under my foot and how to adjust my body weight so I wouldn't slip. Walking on wet roots was much more comfortable and above all safer thanks to the sole than in a classic shoe. I could grip a root with my toes to a certain extent and so keep better stability. In the end I did best of the whole group and wasn't caked in mud from heel to head like some members of the expedition. On the trek we eventually had to wade through a river, and this showed another advantage of my barefoot shoes. All of us had completely soaked shoes, but the leguano dried fastest."
