Podcast naBOSo Walking, Movement and Health Children Barefoot
Discover how a safe space and truly listening can help children cope with today’s pressures and support their mental health.
In the next episode of the naBOSo mluVÍ podcast, we focus on a topic that’s becoming more and more urgent – the mental health of children and young people. Our guests are Romana Zikmundová and Eva Kosařová from the non-profit organisation Neposeda, who are behind the Safe Space Reset project. This unique concept offers children and teenagers a safe place they can visit anonymously, voluntarily and free of charge.
In the interview, you’ll learn how Safe Space Reset was created, how it works, and why it’s an important part of the mental health support system. Our guests explain the role of social workers, who help children name their emotions, navigate challenging life situations and find a route to other specialists when needed. They also talk about the stories and issues children most often bring – from anxiety and feelings of loneliness to pressure to achieve or uncertainty about what they’re actually experiencing.
Together, we also touch on broader themes: how the mental health of the younger generation has changed in recent years, the impact the Covid pandemic has had on children’s psychosocial development, and why prevention is so important today. You’ll also hear how Safe Space Reset works with families, schools and other professionals, and how it copes with the shortage of child psychologists and psychiatrists.
Join us and find out how simple listening, trust and a safe space can change a child’s life. You might also take away inspiration from today’s episode on what each of us can do to help children feel more heard, understood and safe.
